The God we serve is able to deliver us from [the fire] . . . . But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods.

This passage is of 3 men committed to God whom were faced with a situation of being thrown into a furnace by a King whom wanted them to worship his false gods. These three men were so committed to our God that even if God did not deliver them from a physical death, their hope and trust would remain in Him. They were not dependant on what God would do with them or for them but instead we’re only concerned with the reward that awaited them in glorifying God. At the end, God saved these 3 men and not hair on their head was burned from the fire of the furnace. This is a great example for us. There will be many times that our faith is tested in this life. These tests are used to purify our faith and build our perseverance. Our faith may require us to sacrifice. We should be aware not to have a superficial faith that only sees God as a way to get things that we want. Because when we do not receive those things we have requested, we’ll tend to abandon God. What happens on this earth determines the reality of our faith in God. Even when it seems like He has abandoned us in our hardship, we can still trust in Him knowing that He will deliver us in the end. When we try to figure out how God will deliver us from our trials, we are limiting God and His power. He may still intend to save us but in a way that we do not expect or understand. If we believe that God is powerful, then we must also except that this power will work according to His plan rather than ours. Believing that God can deliver us calls for a submission to His will. A faith that is unwavering and committed “even if” things don’t turn out the way we expect.
