1 Samuel 2:30
“Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.”
Honor originates in our hearts and refers to the value we personally place on God. God desires honor that comes from our hearts. The Lord says, “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” (Isaiah 29:13). When we delight in the Lord we seek Him in everything we do and make choices that reflect the place He has in our hearts. To honor God means to give Him the regard, respect, reverence, admiration, adoration, awe, praise, submission, and obedience which are due to Him. When we honor God, we are demonstrating the high regard we have for Him. To honor God means to worship Him in all our attitudes, affections, and actions. Honoring God involves presenting our best to the Lord. It means that we must keep Him as the one we please. It involves an acceptance of life’s challenges and it means living in obedience to Him. God honors those who honor Him and put their trust in Him. When we honor God He has a way of blessing us, using us and providing for us. May we value the wisdom, ways, and the very Word of God and honor Him with our all of our heart.
