Galatians 1:10

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

In this verse the apostle Paul is boldly making the statement that he is not trying to please men but God. All Christians should make it their aim to please only God and fulfill His plans and desires for them, even if it means displeasing some people. After all, no one has ever loved us and provided the hope for us that Jesus has. It’s impossible to live as a people pleaser and please the Lord. At the heart of people pleasing there are ulterior motives of wanting to be liked, gain acceptance, or status. And as we can already tell this world is against much of what the Lord teaches so we are bound to be disliked or  unaccepted by others. Let us be secure in our identity in Christ so that we won’t need the approval or validation from this world. Jesus is our example of how to live, He only did what pleased our Father. He obeyed our Father at whatever the cost, and consequently He didn’t fear the confrontation that His pure motives brought Him into.
