A Work in Progress

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

We are all a work in progress. God is doing a work in our life. Often we are impatient with the speed with which God works but we should remember that God sees the end from the beginning. We might not be able to see it, but God can. Our spiritual growth is a lifetime project. Life is a journey and each experience teaches us something new and improves our character. Our life is being radically renovated, from the inside out, by the One who lives within us. Despite our stumbling attempts to follow our Savior, any measure of desire is proof that God is at work in our life. He is pleased the entire time that we are taking steps of obedience. God is pleased by our progress, not perfection. In a steady and faithful progression to become more and more like the One we love and serve, we can be confident that, “He who began a good work in us will continue it until it is finally finished on the day when He returns.” (Phil. 1:6).
