“Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you'”
Happiness and contentment do not come from stuff, they come from a relationship with God. The secret of contentment is in whom we know, being Jesus who is in us. It is because God is with us always that we can have contentment. No matter what happens, no one can take that from us. No one can take God’s presence from us. Submission and trusting the Lord is needed for us to be content. When we surrender control to the Lord and believe He has our best interest at heart this should bring us contentment. This should help us recognize that God is the provider and we should be grateful for what He’s given us. Contentment is not the state of our bank accounts or circumstances; it is a state of our heart. Contentment is found in making the most of the least and continuing to give thanks for what we have. The pressure to have more and do more can lead us down paths we never intended. It can lead us to the feeling of never having enough as well as to the point of envying others. So let us remember who Christ is and that His plans for us are good. Let’s find contentment in surrending to His Will and being grateful for His blessings.
