Heart Matters

Proverbs 4:23

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life.” 

Our “heart” represents the center of our emotions, thinking, and reasoning. So it makes sense for this verse to stress the importance of keeping our hearts with all diligence. Our heart is our essence, and if it’s not in the right place we will suffer the consequences.  Our heart determines the course of our lives, both here and beyond. In our journey to be women of God we determine the rate and growth of our spiritual advancements in our relationship with the Lord. In all aspects of life God gives all of us the freedom and opportunity to decide what we will or will not do, or whether we’ll grow or not. God will take us as far as we want to go and as fast as we want to go but we must remain diligent in Gods word and guidance. We must also constantly examine the state of our heart.  We mustn’t lie to ourselves but look deep within our heart to see where it is.  What are our motives? What are our intentions? Are we hiding pain, anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgivness, envy, etc?  The Lord can not work in a heart that is not with Him. With Gods grace and in His strength we can accomplish much more than we can even imagine on our own but we must be truthful to ourselves. The Lord will give us the wisdom and the perseverance we need as long as we remember to ask for it. Let’s keep only God in our hearts and He’ll take care of the rest.
