Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God.
-Leviticus 25:
How we treat one another matters to God and reflects our relationship with him. We can’t love God without also considering what’s best for others. We expect that others will always be there to meet our needs, and we take them for granted. But God tells us to treat others well because of Him. God’s love for us compels us to see others through His eyes. We should constantly walk in integrity, acknowledging and living like there is a God who is All-knowing and All-present of our actions. It takes selfless thinking to be considerate of other people’s needs and feelings. One of the biggest downfalls of being “human” is our selfish tendencies. We’re constantly thinking about ourselves and our own desires that we may neglect or take advantage of those around us. Our happiness or success does not have to be at the expense of others. Let us remember to be respectful and considerate to everyone we encounter because these classic values/ethics are becoming so rare today that the world needs examples.
