“For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Sometimes we ask God to change our circumstance but what we don’t realize is God is trying to use our circumstance to change us. Not all hardship in life is directly due to God’s discipline. But every hardship He allows or causes has the goal of confirming us to Christ. God loves us too much to leave us immature, sinful and rebellious. So sometimes He disciplines us to correct our path and shape our life into something mature and pleasing to Him. He is our Father, and just as we as parents discipline our children, He does the same. We should be concerned if we don’t experience His discipline. Hebrews 12:7 states, “If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of His children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really His children at all.” May the Lord help us to evaluate our lives so that we can make the changes we need to correct our paths.
