To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Jesus made the most amazing promises to those who would deny themselves, stand fast in the faith, take up their cross and follow Him. This verse is a promise to everyone who overcomes, in spite of every threatening pain and luring, sinful pleasure. We are called to be faithful and to keep Christ at the center of our heart and life. By faith and through Jesus we have been given everything we need for a life of righteousness and we have all we need to overcome the world, the flesh and the devil. Our eternal salvation is secure, because Christ overcome on our behalf (through His life, His death and His resurrection) but our future rewards depend on the life we live now. We are positionally secure in Christ, but our spiritual rewards and our place in His coming kingdom, depends on how we live our Christian life today. The Lord encourages us to lay up everlasting treasure in heaven and not to be mesmerised by the corrupting wealth and the ways of this world (Matthew 6:19-21). For this world and everything in it is all temporary but the things and the treasures of God are eternal. May we never allow the passing things of this world to take our attention away from Jesus. And may we be overcomer’s with a heart that is rooted and grounded in Christ.
