Proverbs 1:32

For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

Webster’s dictionary defines the word complacency as such, “a feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to try to make them better: self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies.” There is danger in complacency and we are only as useful to God as our last meaningful time of pursuing Him. Complacency is dangerous for us because it means we are not growing in the Lord. This is where we become lazy; this is where we become lukewarm in our faith. God loves us just the way we are, however it doesn’t mean He wants us to stay the way we are. We should be seeking God everyday through prayer and reading His Word. We should be continuously growing in the ways of the Lord and seeking out His will for our lives. We should be repenting and turning from our old ways continually thought-out our life. Our growth in our faith is a lifetime process and commitment, we should always avoid the danger of becoming complacent.
