Psalm 27:4

The one thing I ask of the Lord–the thing I seek most–is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

In this verse King David is expressing his love to be in God’s presence. He just couldn’t get enough of our Father. The desire to be in God’s presence was at the forefront of his life, it was his main focus. No wonder he was called a man after God’s own heart. Imagine if we desired that same kind of relationship that he had with God? The only way this can happen would be to earnestly seek after Him. It requires continual deliberate decisions that reset our priorities in order to make room for the pursuit of God. We can encounter God wherever we are because He is with us, in us, all the time. We are His temple. Seeking God is a persevering lifetime commitment to Him, day by day. God doesn’t need anything from us, but He desires our loving devotion and intimate fellowship with Him. May we be a woman after God’s own heart, diligently seeking and desiring to be in our heavenly Father’s presence at all times.
