Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

-Colossians 3:2-4

Sometimes we cave into cultural or societal pressure and allow the things of this world to define us…like what we look like, what title we hold, our preferences, our background etc. But as followers of Christ, none of these things define us. So who are we? I think the better question to ask is whose are we? We are children of God whom were created in His image. Christ is our life and He lives in us. His joy becomes our joy, His love our love, His peace our peace, and His strength our strength. When we accept Christ into our hearts, the person we were before dies, and we are reborn as a “new creation.” Knowing who we are in Christ changes the way we live and helps us to have a deeper understanding of God and His Word. Our faith in Him distinguishes us from others. If we are secure in our identity in Christ, then our lives will start to reveal that. Our speech and actions will start expressing the confidence that we have found in Him. Let’s meditate on what God has done for us through Jesus, who we are in Jesus, and what we have in Jesus. Thank God for our new identities.
