Race and Gender

Galatians 3:28

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

It’s easy to fixate on the pursuit of our own best interests as individuals based on our gender, race, and ethnicity. However, as Christ followers we must remember that we are not better or more valuable because we are from a particular race or gender. None of those things define us, and God loves and cares for the interests of all people. These titles given were created by man, and they separate us from each other. It’s unfortunate because racial segregation, biases, and superiorities are formed this way. When the divisions of this world begin to pull our heart’s away, this should serve to realign us with God’s vision. At the end of time, we will be one with all other believers around the world…a nation that will endure. All of humanity regardless of race and gender is valuable, and we should all love and help one another, for we all need God’s truth. May we not make our race or gender an idol or hold onto it as our defining characteristic. May we instead serve Christ first and foremost, and allow Him to guide our perspective.
