Hey there Mama!
Do you find yourself comparing your life to others? Do you feel like you need to change or be like someone else in order to be happy and enjoy life?
In this day in age it doesn’t help that we have everyone on social media boasting about their “perfect lives.” We are bombarded with ideals everyday such as; the working successful mom, the mom who has the perfect children, the mom who has a perfect relationship, the mom who has the perfect body, or the mom who wears the most stylish clothes.
Its easy to see why we may compare ourselves to others when there is so much being displayed out there for us to see. It may make us feel unhappy or unsatisfied with ourselves or we may find ourselves with envy in our hearts.
Well mama, I’m here to tell you to embrace your uniqueness! The Lord took time to form you. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Comparing ourselves to others takes the focus away from our own abilities and qualities. Use the gifts the Lord has blessed you with, it’s much more fulfilling to be yourself and to be grateful for what you already have. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks.” Remember gratitude brings froth contentment so count your blessings because we are here in this world temporarily and we can’t take anything with us when we’re gone. 1 Timothy 6:6-12 “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.”
Know your identity mama and rejoice because you are a child of God. John 3:1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” We must be strong enough to look past the worlds view of a perfect life and focus on seeing ourselves in the Lord. Ultimately our goal is to have eternal life with our Lord and savior. Matthew 16:26 “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?”
Also, remember that everyone is fighting their own battles. So although is may seem like someone has it altogether and is living the ideal life, trust that they are going through some stuff as well. We are all struggling with one thing or another, it’s part of life and it’s part of growing. James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Overcoming trials only makes you stronger and builds character. We learn from our lessons and improve our lives through all of our struggles.
Don’t lose site of whats truly important because nothing in this life is guaranteed, not even what YOU expect from it. Why worry about the petty things, the things that feed your ego, is that what life is truly about? In my opinion its not, I’d rather be content with the sacrifice Jesus made for us, the people in my life, the roof over my head and the food in my belly because God always provides enough. At least it will always be enough for me. You’re blessed when you’re content.
